A Word To First Time Buyers

Though few people buy enough properties in a life-time to get a tight grasp on the process, first-time homebuyers are especially baffled by the steps they must go through. Many times, I have seen buyers almost throw in the towel and give up. But when it is all said and done, they're so glad they waded through the mountains of paperwork, questions, and hassle. Sometimes it is hard not to take some of the questions too personal, but when your realize it is just the system and that everyone goes through the same thing, it is easier to understand and accept.

If you are in the market or if you are heading for your first home purchase, take a look at these pointers and maybe they will make your transaction less difficult and easier to follow:

1) Find a GURU in the Real Estate field

Look for someone that doesn't just sell homes, but educates and helps people understand -- someone that will respond to your questions and listen conscientiously to your comments. Here at Sunrise Properties, we understand this is not something to take lightly. It is a major investment and one that can change your life completely. We want you to be as comfortable as possible throughout the transaction and we want you to feel like you are the one in control -- Because you are!

2) Find a mortgage lender that will listen and be willing to answer all your "silly" questions

No one expects you to understand how to take out a home loan. Do not be afraid to ask questions. I always say "There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers." Make sure you feel comfortable with your realtor, your mortgage company and the house you are about to purchase. There is no need to settle for less... You don't have to.

Becoming prequalified for a loan is a great idea and is not a costly or lengthy process. Ask around at work, church and friends. If you are new to the area, ask around town. Others can probably recommend realtors and mortgage companies to use or sometimes not to use.

We understand that there are a lot of emotions going on when a home is being purchased -- especially for the first time home buyer. There is excitement, fear, stress and happiness. We try to work with you as close as possible to share your excitement and happiness and try to lessen the fear and stress for you. And just remember .... When you take the key out of your pocket and unlock the door of your new home, you know it was worth it all.

Good luck and best wishes on your new home!!
